When cops showed up at Flora Burkhart's house asking her why she didn't stop after rear-ending a pickup truck on her way home Sunday night, she had quite an interesting excuse: "I left because I did not want my ice cream to melt." The 58-year-old Arkansas woman, you see, was carrying ice cream home with her when the accident occurred on a state highway; she also "didn't think there was enough damage to the vehicles to call police," according to a police report obtained by the Smoking Gun.

Derek Parker, the driver of the pickup truck, called 911 and followed Burkhart home. Police estimated $500 in damages per car, and cited Burkhart for leaving the scene as well as following the pickup too closely. (More strange stuff stories.)
