If Iran were attacked, it could retaliate within minutes, destroying US bases in the Middle East and hammering Israel, too, an official says. A Revolutionary Guard commander told Iran's semi-official Fars News Agency that 35 US bases are "in range of our missiles, and the occupied lands (Israel) are also good targets for us," Reuters reports. "We have thought of measures to set up bases and deploy missiles to destroy all these bases in the early minutes after an attack."

Iran is in its third day of ballistic missile tests; its officials say they can reach 1,300 miles. The tests have annihilated simulated bases, leaders say. Defense experts, however, question Iran's military boasts, including how the official arrived at the 35-base figure. The claim follows Europe's embargo on all Iranian oil exports, which began Sunday.
