Patriots Game on National TV

Posted Dec 26, 07 5:56 PM CST in Sports

(Newser) – The Patriots' pursuit of perfection will be on national TV after all. The NFL relented to widespread complaints today and announced that Saturday night's game will be broadcast on CBS and NBC along with the NFL Network, the Boston Herald reports. Original plans to air the game only on the latter network rankled fans who didn't want to miss a chance to see the Patriots beat the Giants to finish 16-0.

“We have taken this extraordinary step because it is in the best interest of our fans,” said NFL chief Roger Goodell. The three-way broadcast is the first in league history, the Herald notes. No team has ever gone undefeated in a 16-game season, and a slew of Patriots players are poised to set individual league records.
