(Newser) – The creators of Ouya, a cheaper and hacker-friendly gaming console built on Android, wanted to raise almost a million bucks in a month. Well, they got that much through their Kickstarter campaign in about eight hours, reports an impressed CNET. And in about a day, they had raised more than $2.5 million, making it the biggest first day ever on the crowdfunding site, notes VentureBeat. The figure is currently above $3 million and still climbing, with more than 24,000 people funding the campaign.

What to do with all the extra cash? In an update, one of the creators writes, "We want to blow you away. The biggest thing for us right now: we are working on our stretch goals, what we can do if we raise more money. It might take us a few days to figure that out, and we want your help. Tell us what you would like the stretch goals to be."

Good luck! Oh, before you focus on using up all of your windfall, just put the system out as originally intended and them improve upon it. If you get too complicated, it could blow up in your face.

Maybe they should put some of that money into a new name.

I'm hoping it's a success.  I'm tired of Call of Duty 12 and Battlefield 28.  The big consoles don't seem to be publishing anything but regurgitated first person shooters.
