(Newser) – David Letterman incurred the rage of online movie fans yesterday by apparently divulging the ending to The Dark Knight Rises during a little chit chat with Anne Hathaway, AFP reports. "The wrath you have just invited onto yourself!" said Anne Hathaway on his show. Turning to the camera, she addressed director Christopher Nolan: "Chris, I had no part in it, I'm sorry."

Dark Knight fans, read no further—for here comes the spoiler. "I saw this movie, the Batman movie ... and in the end, Batman is dead," said Letterman. Hathaway seemed surprised, saying, "Daaaave...!" And the host backtracked as fast as his grammar would carry him: "He's not dead ... just relax." Quipped one of the more philosophical online film fans: "Dave has 'OLD TIMERS' disease. It happens to everyone."

Marketing ploy for the movie...Letterman is taped for god sake. If they didn't want you to "know this"...then they would have edited it out!
