Weiner's Plotting a Comeback: Sources

The New York Post can't say with certitude, but Anthony Weiner is reportedly looking to get back into the political game. Citing "multiple sources" in a pun-laden exclusive, the Post reports that the former congressman is "desperate" to get back into politics, and is feeling out a run for New York City mayor. Weiner is especially eager because his $4.5 million campaign war chest won't be eligible for public match after the 2013 elections.

But not so fast, say some: “The general feeling is that you can’t text pictures of your penis to a girl, then lie about it, then get kicked out of the House and then run for mayor right after." If it is indeed too soon, there's a backup plan in public-service purgatory: The less-glamorous $165,000-a-year job of public advocate, where Weiner could do further penance while getting ready to run for mayor in 2017. Meanwhile, Weiner is said to be happily pulling daddy duty. Oh, and the Post outdid itself with its URL. (More Anthony Weiner stories.)
