Celtics Trounce Kings

Posted Dec 27, 07 2:55 AM CST in Sports

(Newser) – Despite allowing a breakout second quarter lead to slip away with an offensively lackluster third, Boston roared back in the fourth, crushing Sacramento 89-69 last night, AP reports.  Ray Allen led the big three with 17 points, and Paul Pierce had 16, 14 of which came in the second. The victory marks Boston's 12th in their last 13 games.

Ron Artest led the Kings with 15 points, and was instrumental in cutting Sacramento's deficit to less than five in the fourth quarter before Boston widened their lead again with an 8-0 run. The Celtics' first half was their best defensively of the season, as they held Sacramento to a 32.4 shooting percentage. Boston's record is a league best 23-3.
