(Newser) – For the second time in as many days, a small plane has landed on a California road near San Diego. Late last night, a plane carrying four landed on Interstate 15 in Escondido. No one on the road or on board the plane was hurt in the incident, the AP reports, though a pickup truck suffered some minor damage after it bumped into a wing. After landing around 11:30pm, the 1968 Piper plane was pushed to the shoulder. On Saturday, another plane landed on Route 67 in Santee, 10News.com reports.

Sounds like someone forgot to switch the fuel tanks, or like Mr. Joshua said he just couldn't calculate his fuel correctly. If I remember correctly aren't you always supposed to calculate fuel so that you have 30 minutes of extra flying time after you reach your destination? Can't remember if that is for day or night flying - time to go dig through the old piloting books.

Looks like stations near SD should start selling aviation fuel.

A pilot who can't calculate his fuel consumption should not be flying. Simple as that. We allow 20% above what we calculate we will need. There is no excuse for this type of fuckup. And you can call me..................Mr Joshua
