Rebels say international community bears responsibility if they're defeated

(Newser) – Government tanks, artillery, and helicopters continued to pound rebel-held Aleppo today, in what could be one of the biggest battles of the Syrian uprising yet, reports the AP. Rebels have so far managed to keep government forces at bay, but the cost has been high, with 29 killed in Aleppo yesterday and 168 around Syria, including 94 civilians, 33 rebels, and 41 soldiers, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights told al-Jazeera. "We are seeing some of the heaviest bombardment today, but the rebels are still holding up well," said one activist.

Syrian rebels called on the international community to provide them with weapons and support, regardless of blocks put in the way by the divided UN Security Council, reports Reuters. "Our friends and allies will bear responsibility for what is happening in Aleppo if they do not move soon," said the head of the Syrian National Council. French President Francois Hollande said he would try again to get support from the Security Council. "I will once more address Russia and China so that they recognize there would be chaos and civil war if Bashar al-Assad isn't soon stopped," Hollande said.

Shame on you rebels, and shame on you international community. The truth is unbelievably detailed, long and hard to follow. Let us summarize with logic The Syrian rebels are the facots that started this mass blood shed in syria, making the army react crazily by killing....anything that moves with bullets and shells. So,the only way to get rid of the regime is to kill the army? let me point out that there is a conscription law in syria, the military there have NO option! And let me point out that the rebels have committed atrocities too (not as much as the army). The truth is simple, the syr gov needs to get themselves the hell out of syria, but, the rebels led by bashars cousin SHOULD NEVER have power! the rebels and army are BOTH killing civilians. Expect a sectarian war after the down fall of bashar,I hear alot of my syrian friends talking about how the "shia's are emenies of the people"...

This is an interesting mess. The Turks, Kurds, Hezbollah, the Israelis, the CIA and Special Forces, the Iranians, Jihadists, Mercenaries, the Brits and France, the Lebanese, the Iraqis, the Saudis, Qatar, the Russians - all have a piece of the action. Syria could make Lebanon look like a walk in the park.
