It was unanimously included, Barney Frank says

(Newser) – The committee drafting the Democratic Party's official platform has, for the first time, included support for same-sex marriage on it. All 15 members of the committee voted unanimously to include the section, Rep. Barney Frank tells the Washington Blade. "Everybody was for it," he said, tracing support for the policy to President Obama's endorsement in May.

The draft language supports same-sex marriage, rejects the Defense of Marriage Act, and hints at support for the Employment Non-Discrimination Act, a committee staffer said. But the draft hasn't been finalized yet, and will go through an amendment process before eventually being presented at the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte.

This is what I wish. Expand the area of San Fransisco, make it an autonomous city-state. Move all the gays there and they can make up all the rules they want while leaving everyone else the hell alone.

While I support this move by the Dems, I think this could actually alienate a significant number of Dem supporters.  This election is not a slam dunk for the President.  So while it's refreshing that a party acts on principles, rather than politics, it could potentially cost them the election.
