Elevator repairmen make the list

(Newser) – It's not just investment bankers, doctors, and the Waltons who earn sizable salaries. Forbes has compiled a list of 20 surprising occupations that pay out more than $100,000, at least for those in the top 10% of their professions. A sampling:

  • Makeup artists for theatrical and performance ($120,050 for top earners)
  • Technical writers of manuals, instructions ($102,250)
  • Gaming managers at casinos ($116,840)
  • Transportation safety inspectors for freight, etc. ($110,210)
  • Elevator installers and repairers ($105,750)

How about stagehands. At Lincoln Center, the AVERAGE salary is $290,000. The top stagehand at the Met Opera makes over $500,000.

Misleading title. EVERY ONE of those jobs are worth their pay.
