(Newser) – Michael, George Michael, and the rest of the Bluths are back as production begins today for the new season of Arrested Development. As of yesterday, Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Portia de Rossi, and the rest of the full cast were set to return for the 10 new episodes, each of which will revolve largely around a single character. Still no word on when the show will air on Netflix, though the episodes are expected to all appear at the same time, Deadline notes.

I was a johnny-come-lately to this show and by the time I realized how brilliant it was, it was off network television. Good to know that I can still catch it somewhere. I can see why this show was a slow-burn success, though. It doesn't fit into the formulaic laugh-track laden sitcom format, it's definitely not a drama and nobody's getting voted off the island or offered a recording contract at the end of the season. In short, it's a truly creative series with an original premise and Hollywood,  "fast-food TV" loving viewers, TV networks and the big-wigs that control content never seem to know what to do with that.
