(Newser) – Sikh temple gunman Wade Michael Page killed himself after being wounded by a police officer—and that officer delivered "an amazing shot," according to the FBI's special agent in charge of the Milwaukee division, who watched the video. The officer shot Page in the abdomen, seriously wounding him, from about 75 yards away. The FBI agent said the injury probably would have ended up killing Page, the Los Angeles Times reports.

Investigators wouldn't name the officer, but the police union did: Sam Lenda, a 32-year veteran of the force, has been described as a "tactical expert" and also serves as a firearms instructor at a local college. One of his fellow instructors says Lenda confirmed he fired the shot, and that in a conversation with Lenda, he "sounded good—he had a good mental attitude." The union's executive director says Lenda is humble, and is "not interested in being portrayed as a hero."

a 30 year veteran hitting someone in the torso is NOT an amazing shoot. a head shoot is an amazing shoot, shooting someone in the stomach enables him to still kill more people, what a joke.

Nice play on words in the headline, Evann (Sikh Shooter), but it gave me the impression that a Sikh was the shooter rather than a victim of the shooting.
