Thai Senator 'Accidentally' Shoots Secretary at Dinner
Boonsong Kowawisarat, 55, faces charges of causing death by negligence.   (Bangkok Post)

A Thai lawmaker who took his Uzi to dinner ended up killing his secretary with it. Police say Senator Boonsong Kowawisarat was dining with family members when he accidentally shot his ex-wife, who works as his personal secretary. The 9mm Uzi submachine gun "was accidentally fired off while he was trying to keep his pistol in its case," a police spokesman tells CNN.

"The shot went straight into his secretary, who was having dinner." The senator will be charged with causing death by negligence, although immunity laws state that he can't be arrested while Thailand's parliament remains in session. It's not clear why he decided to come to the meal armed, or if he knew the gun was loaded. (More Thailand stories.)
