Characters have 'lost their rock,' Reeves says

(Newser) – The third Bill & Ted movie may actually happen: "We have a nice story. We'll see if anyone else wants to make it," Keanu Reeves tells GQ. The story involves middle-aged Bill and Ted "crushed by the responsibility of having to write the greatest song ever written and to change the world," Reeves says. "And they haven't done it. So everybody is kind of like: 'Where is the song?' The guys have just drifted off into esoterica and lost their rock."

And when one has lost his rock, there's only one place to go: the future. That's where Bill and Ted head in a quest for answers. "One future 'us' refuses to tell us [whether the song ever got written], and another future 'us' blames us for their lives because we didn't write the song, so they're living this terrible life," Reeves says. "In one version we're in jail; in another we're at some kind of highway motel and they hate us." Click for the full Q&A, in which Reeves also discusses his current projects.

I like the idea.  Why?  I'm tired of movies based on some overrated comic book.
