Patriots Achieve Perfection

Posted Dec 29, 07 11:51 PM CST in Sports    Most Covered

(Newser) – The Giants didn't get the memo that their matchup with unbeaten New England was meaningless, as they put up a commendable fight in a 38-35 loss, reports The New York Times. The Patriots became the first team to finish the regular season undefeated since 1972, and also set several records in the process, including most points scored in one season.

And in one long play, Tom Brady and Randy Moss set individual single-season records for TD passes (50) and TD receptions (23) respectively, and put their team ahead to stay after a 12-point deficit in the second half. "I'm proud of the way this team responded," said the unflappable quarterback. Next up: complete the road to 19-0 and best ever.
