(Newser) – Harry Truman called the 80th Congress "do-nothing" in 1948, but they look like massive overachievers compared to today's crop of lawmakers, a USA Today analysis finds. The 112th Congress has passed just 61 bills out of 3,914 into law this year, putting it on course to be the most unproductive since year-end records began in 1947. Only 90 bills became law last year. One post-World War II year, 1995, had an even lower total than 2011, but the Republican-controlled Congress managed to produce 245 laws the following year with a Democratic president.

After two years marked by partisanship and failure to agree on issues including debt reduction and drought relief, the 112th Congress will conclude after Election Day and most people will be happy to see it go, according to the latest Gallup poll. The poll found that just 10% of Americans think members of Congress are doing a good job, tying a record low set in February of this year. The highest approval rating this Congress has received came in May 2011, when it reached the dizzying heights of 24% approval, notes Politico.

Well you can't blame that on the DEMS. That is entirely the republicans in congress the worse ever. But they have the right to because there main thing is to make Obama a one timer at our cost, let us suffer for four yrs. because they are making there money off tax cuts for rich and stock market being back they are making more then ever. SO WHOM CAN WIN THE WAITING GAME??? They had it planed. Get out and vote for Obama and get the republicans out of congress!!!!!! It will be a great country once again!!!!

It won't happen but it should, every member of the House and Senate should be voted out of office. The house will be the message that the People control government, and it they cannot do the peoples bidding then a virtual 'off with their head' attitude will give those truly wanting to do the People's business the proper attitude adjustment. Unfortunately it will take 4 more years to replace the Senate based on their self insuring rules of staggering election.

Why is it that people feel that Congress need to pass new laws to be doing their job? Personally I would like them to spend more time revoking old not-used or discriminatory laws. Now I do think they should pass a budget but people just want to throw crap at each other. It is OK to disagree about some or even most things. But we should be civil enough to at least be able to speak to each other.
