(Newser) – As the members of punk band Pussy Riot await a verdict that could send them to a labor camp for three years, one of them warns that their trial is a sign of repression in Vladimir Putin's Russia, reports the Guardian. "Our being in jail is a clear and distinct sign that freedom is being taken away from the whole country," Nadezhda Tolokonnikova writes in a letter to supporters. "And this threat of destruction of the liberating, emancipatory forces of Russia is what makes me angry." The band, who were arresting for performing an anti-Putin "punk prayer" in a Moscow cathedral, have been in jail since March.

"Something unbelievable is happening for modern Russian politics: the demanding, stubborn, authoritative and consistent impact of society on the authorities," writes Tolokonnikova, whose trial comes amid a wider Russian clampdown on opposition. "Whatever the verdict for Pussy Riot, we and you have already won. Because we have learned to be angry and speak politically," she writes. The verdict is due at 7am ET, and rallies to support the band will be held in cities around the world. Stars including Bjork, Madonna, and Paul McCartney have spoken out in Pussy Riot's support.

The unusual relationship that exists between the Kremlin and the Russian Orthodox Church are far surpassing! The Russian Orthodox Church clearly utilizes the civil power to enforce her decrees! Thus you can see why most other churches throughout Russia have undergone persecution on behalf of the Russian Orothodox Church! Also why is the Vatican so determined to super-strengthing ties with the Russian Orthodox Church as well as the Eastern Orthodox Church through such an ambitious ecumenical attempt namely through the efforts of Pope Benedict XVl? To regain its once held supremacy across Europe as well as Eastern Europe! Pope Benedict XVl, of German lineage, by the way the pope also known as the Enforcer has vowed that before the end of his reign he will have reunited Christiandom-  Surprising? With regards to the Pussy Riot musicians: The USSR may no longer be but the Kremlins former Secret Police KGB head Vladimar Putin is and still remains the presiding head of state; Thus you can see why repression remains a reality today with respect to the Russian state-Russia the place that has brewed forth Czars, Communism, and now Vladimar Putins Russia!   Today, together, the Russian state secures a strong bond hand-in-hand with the Russian Orthodox Church. An  unofficial church-state union exists between the two, so much that the Kremlin itself has an act of courtesy  to the Russian  Orthodox Church has  even provided a place of residency for the head of the the church within the Kremlin itself!   A

Since Newser is so fucking slow in posting breaking news, I'll announce that over 30 minutes ago Pussy Riot was found guilty of hooliganism. Their sentence is expected to be handed down soon...
