Heidi's Bling Banged With Copyright Suit

Posted Dec 30, 07 10:31 AM CST in Gossip Crime & Courts Arts & Living

(Newser) – Supermodel and "Project Runway" host Heidi Klum has been sued by a top jewelry manufacturer who claims her new line of bling is a clone of copyrighted designs, reports People. Van Cleef & Arpels argued in papers filed in Manhattan federal court earlier this month that Heidi's jewelry creates "confusion in the marketplace."

The firm is demanding more than $25,000 in damages for copyright infringement. A spokesman for Klum's jewelry company dismissed the suit, saying that "shapes such as clovers, hearts, and crosses are universal symbols and are commonly used in jewelry."
