(Newser) – Newsflash to would-be crime-stoppers: Sometimes, the bad guy is a bad girl. A man and a woman driving down a New Jersey street in the wee hours saw what they thought was a man assaulting a woman. So they stopped and restrained him so the woman could get away … not realizing that the woman had allegedly just robbed the man. The 26-year-old victim told police that the woman took around $400 in cash and a $500 gold chain. As he tried to stop her from getting away, they started tussling.

That's when the motorists, a 21-year-old man and 26-year-old woman, came to the suspected robber's defense. She ran away, and the victim tried to run after her but lost her. (The situation was made even more confusing because the victim was drunk and speaks little English, police add.) Police tracked down and questioned the "would-be good Samaritans," as MyCentralJersey.com calls them, but they were released after officers determined they were not involved in the robbery.

Not sure how the Police can say the "Good Samaritans" wer NOT involved in the robbery.......seems to me like they were "aiding & abetting!!!"  and should be responsible for restitution............
