(Newser) – Maude Apatow is just 14 years old, and though she's appeared in some of her dad Judd's movies, she's not exactly a child star. She's more focused on starting high school than starting a career—"It'll be OK," she predicts in a New York Times profile. "Hopefully." But Maude's observations on life as an adolescent speak to many, from normal kids her age to celebrities much older—she counts Girls' Lena Dunham and iconic author Judy Blume among her fans—and her astute, often hilarious tweets have scored her 67,000 Twitter followers. (And no, her dad doesn't write her tweets, although he sometimes edits her grammar and the two often spar over Twitter. "It could not be more unhealthy," says Apatow.)

Maude and younger sister Iris have appeared as the children of Leslie Mann—their real-life mom and Apatow's wife—in Knocked Up, Funny People, and This Is 40. But, to her fans, she's better known for tweets like, "It was really uncomfortable when I watched Beaches with my best friend and she didn’t cry" and "I think I might get into a fistfight at this bar mitzvah." Live royal wedding tweets and a shout-out from Brit boy band One Direction ratcheted up her popularity, which then led to writing assignments from HelloGiggles and Teen Vogue. Her dad hopes she'll continue writing—and that "ultimately what she writes is longer than 140 characters," he says. Click for the full profile.
