Utah Affiliate Axes Gay-Themed NBC Sitcom

Mormon-owned station's move 'blatantly homophobic': Ellen Barkin

(Newser) – A Mormon Church-owned NBC affiliate won't be airing the network's new show about a gay couple because it's "excessively rude and crude," Gawker reports. The New Normal, which tells the story of the couple having a child through a surrogate, "feels inappropriate on several dimensions, especially during family viewing time," says Salt Lake City's KSL-TV. New Normal star Ellen Barkin blasts the move as "blatantly homophobic," tweeting: "So L&O SVU (rape & child murder) is ok? But loving gay couple having a baby is inappropriate?"

I don't think there is a place on TV for this type of show.  It's not the new normal.  Children are confused enough.  I'll bet it won't last through half of the season.

So if you're NOT anti-gay then you must be pro-gay?? Where's the middle-man here who is NEITHER??        The LDS church is NEITHER. They respect gay people and expect them to behave just like other people and live chaste lives and have clean behavior. Parents want to be able to let their kids surf the TV without supervising them. My parents never had to worry about us surfing TV, but now the airwaves are pummeled with sex. Unclean thoughts lead to unclean actions and stains us with sin, STD's, pregnancies, adultery. Is that really what we want to have happen to our kids?!

Owned by Mitt Romney, perhaps?
