(Newser) – A tourist in Iceland generously volunteered her time to search for a missing woman, only to find out she was, in fact, the missing woman. The debacle began when the woman got off a tour bus at a volcano, then changed her clothes before re-boarding. Because the driver didn't recognize her, she was reported as missing, and police spent the weekend searching for her, reports the Reykjavik Grapevine. After taking part in the search herself, it dawned on the woman what was going on, and she informed police.

"One has to wonder why no one else on the bus thought to ask if the 20-30-year-old 5'2 woman of Asian descent was the 20-30-year-old 5'2 woman of Asian descent everyone was looking for," writes Caity Weaver at Gawker. "Perhaps no one wanted to seem racist by suggesting this real-life Asian woman looked just like the hypothetical one."

Part of the Bus driver job discription. Must be able to recognize 50 people at a glance. Even if he counted them it would have worked. 50 on 50 off 50 on. How could a tour bus have such a slip shod system. Sign of the bad education system all over the world. Bus drivers that can't count to 50.

Didn't anyone think to have a roll call ? I'm so sick of politically correct bullshit. Missing an Asian woman then ask all the Asian women their names - problem solved. It's not racist it's common sense.
