Microsoft co-founder refiles suit after judge's dismissal

(NEWSER) - Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen has re-filed his mammoth patent lawsuit targeting a host of major web companies including Apple, Google, Facebook, Netflix, eBay, Aol, and Yahoo. Allen’s original lawsuit, filed in August, was dismissed because it was too vague, failing to name specific products or services. The refiling, which you can see at the Seattle Times , rectifies that, in part by including 40 exhibits, most of which consist of website screenshots with the allegedly offending module highlighted. Google wants more users for Google+, more advertising markets

(NEWSER) - Google is trying to buy rival Yahoo and has talked to at least two private equity firms about financing the deal, reports the Wall Street Journal . Despite Internet ad revenues soaring around 20% a year, Yahoo revenue has foundered for several years, spurring talk the Internet giant could go private to regroup away from the pressures of the stock market. Google is apparently interested in finding a new outlet for its omnipresent ads, Yahoo's exclusive publishing relationships, and the boost that Yahoo's 700 million unique monthly users could give Google+ . But Facebook leads in time spent by users each month

(NEWSER) - Google set a staggering record in May, according to new comScore data: It reeled in more than 1 billion unique visitors, marking the first time an Internet company can claim that honor, reports the Wall Street Journal . The figure represents an 8.4% rise over the past year, and it's more than double the 496 million unique visitors Google had per month in early 2006, when comScore started measuring Web traffic. Microsoft was the No. 2 company in May with 905 million unique visitors, followed by Facebook (714 million) and Yahoo (689 million). More»

Social network sneaks around search giant's block
