(Newser) – Rappelling 785 feet down a skyscraper was fun and all, but Prince Andrew says he has no plans to repeat the performance. To be more precise: "I will never do it again," he said. But the 52-year-old British royal dared today to descend most of London's Shard skyscraper—Europe's tallest—for a charity that helps inner-city children. Andrew's charity haul: about $460,000, reports Sky News. "I'm not even going to say that was a piece of cake or not," said Andrew. "I have to say the most difficult bit was walking up the stairs."

The story's headline implies that the Prince climbed the outside of the tower. ("Prince Andrew scales ...") In fact, he made a controlled descent of the tower's skin. The story writer and editor need to get themselves to a dictionary, and look up "scale".

We fought a revolution to get away from these people and the whole concept of royalty.  Our predilection to vote for American patricians like the Kennedys, the Bushes and the Romneys notwithstanding, why are any of us paying attention to the exploits of these British "blue bloods"?
