(Newser) – Pope Benedict XVI can now pootle around the grounds of his summer residence in an electric car. The pontiff—who has paid more attention to environmental issues than his predecessors—was presented with the customized white Kangoo by Renault, AP reports. The automaker has already given electric Kangoos to the Vatican gendarmes and media officers. The pontiff's new electric car doesn't have the same bulletproof windows as the Popemobile, but Mercedes says it is working on one for the "green pope."

Let's keep the archaic figurehead happy with a new set of wheels so he can drive by the starving believers. Stupid organized religion.

Surprised it doesn't run off the blood of the innocent and the tears of their many many victims.
