Jerry Brown might be an "old retread" in Chris Christie's book, but he's a feisty old retread, thank you very much. The California governor today fired back at the New Jersey governor's criticism today on State of the Union, reports Politico. “Yes, well, I'm 74,” Brown said. “I'll be 74 1/2 next month. And but here I am. You know, there is some experience. Hopefully, there's some wisdom. So I got kind of warmed up and went on my speech and I said, OK, Christie, I challenge you to a three-mile race. Try some chin-ups maybe and some pushups.”

Was he ever-so-subtly implying Christie is overweight, asked host Candy Crowley? “No, (it) essentially says this old retread can beat you any day of the week,” Brown responded. (More Jerry Brown stories.)
