Walmart Halts Kindle Sales

Will no longer sell Amazon product as competition deepens

(Newser) – Shopping for a Kindle? You won't be getting one at Walmart. The chain has decided to stop carrying Kindles, and will only be selling off its "existing inventory and purchase commitments" from here on out, it said in a memo to store managers yesterday. Amazon has Walmart handily beat in online sales, and Kindle tablet users can shop Amazon.com on their devices—putting it deeper into competition with Walmart and other retailers, Reuters notes. Walmart sells other tablets and e-readers, including the Apple iPad and Barnes & Noble's Nook. Target, too, no longer sells Kindles.

This was forced by Apple; they had to drop Kindles to keep the iPad. They're worried about the new Kindle Fire HD.

Translation:  Damn that Amazon is a tough competitor. I have noticed a lot of price creep lately at Walmart.  One can not assume they have the best price.  In a head to head local comparison recently, Target beat them.  That shocked the heck out of me, because I have always regarded Target as being higher priced.

Sound business practice. Why sell a catalog to someone else's store. ? And......if you can't figger out the walmart web site -- which I find substantially quick and easy to use -- blame your ISP, your computer, or.........uh.......your abilities.
