(Newser) – A New Testament scholar has weighed in on the ancient document that mentions Jesus having a wife, the Guardian reports. His verdict: Not worth the papyrus it's written on. "I would be very surprised if it were not a modern forgery," writes Francis Watson of Durham University in an online article. He argues that the sentence fragments on the document are copied—with small changes—from editions of the Gospel of Thomas currently in print.

Watson even spotted a line break in one word that appears taken from a modern version of the gospel, which is an ancient Christian or Gnostic work. "The text has been constructed out of small pieces—words or phrases—culled mostly from the Coptic Gospel of Thomas," he writes. "This level of dependence on extant pieces of Coptic text is more plausibly attributed to a modern author." Watson says the papyrus itself may date back 1,700 years, but the author was modern and had a "limited facility in Coptic."

What the Gnostic writings has to do with the true gospel of salvation? Anything based on a lie is a lie.The Holy blood Holy grail pretend that Jesus escaped death on the cross and married Mary Magdalene. The Da Vinci code pretend a secret marriage between Jesus and Mary Magdalene and the real blood of the grail is inside Mary based on the painting of the last supper by Leonardo Da Vinci. After that some persons pretend finding Jesus tomb and bones and carried DNA tests! and statistics on names! Now a scholar has a writing words on a papyrus about Jesus wife and titled that papyrus in the shape of a credit card,a gospel! Through history many people had and still tried to strip Jesus of His deity. They believe in a Jesus who was a mere man,a great teacher with spiritual insight but otherwise ordinary. The marriage of Jesus is taken to be proof that He was not God in the flesh, but only a mortal man.Actually in above fake stories there is a very dangerous and deceiving lie about the real blood and the wife. The truth is that real and Holy blood is on Jesus' forehead and not in the womb of Mary Magdalene or any other woman. This is revealed by Souheil Bayoud in the true story The Coin Of The Temple. As for the wife, the impossibility of the marriage of Jesus is not and will not be revealed to disbelievers and opponents to Orthodox Christianity and the Church.

I am a man of faith. I have tasted death and lived to tell the tail. The catholic church has a long and sordid history of manipulating the masses with whatever truth(s) they hold to be self evident at that particular moment in time. Of course should that truth be deemed counter productive to the ideology of the current leadership than the information is simply manipulated by "experts" that conform to the current administrations agenda. I submit, that believers, men and women of faith, be allowed to view, research and formulate their own opinions based on the evidence at hand. However, history reminds us that organized religion rests on the assumption that the participating masses our but sheep and must blindly follow. Sorry, I chose to be a shepard.
