The guy who allegedly attacked Lindsay Lohan at a New York hotel over the weekend is a GOP congressional staffer, the New York Daily News reports. Christian LaBella, 25, works for Rep. John Shimkus, a Republican from Illinois. "Obviously, the congressman does not condone his actions," says a rep via email. LaBella is also the nephew of comedian Heather McDonald, who writes for Chelsea Handler's show. His now-defunct Facebook page featured pictures of him with politicians and celebrities alike, including Paul Ryan, Herman Cain, and Kim Kardashian.

Lohan met LaBella while out clubbing, and he returned with her and other friends to her hotel room around 4am. The trouble occurred around 6am, when Lindsay discovered dozens of pictures of herself partying—which he had been emailing to friends—on LaBella's phone. That's when, according to Lohan, LaBella got violent with her. "She’s very shaken up," Lohan mom Dina says. "Thank God he didn’t have a weapon." But LaBella's camp is firmly on his side, of course: "It’s shameful that a celebrity with a personal publicist can persecute a nice guy like Christian," his uncle says. "She’s using her celebrity to launch a full-scale witch hunt against him just to be relevant again." (More Lindsay Lohan stories.)
