(Newser) – It's a big day for diehard James Bond fans. The franchise marks its 50th anniversary given the opening of Dr. No in London on October 5, 1962, reports Reuters. The 23rd film, Skyfall, debuts in the same city later this month, and Adele's theme song for it came out this morning. (Not all the reviews are kind.) Also today, the documentary Everything or Nothing is out, with director Stevan Riley's film tracing how the Bond movies managed to adapt and thrive over the years—even after the collapse of the Cold War. Christie's auction house is in the spirit with an online auction to benefit charity.

Now, more than ever, we must all truly know, that this is the end. Or, should be, anyway.

Adele is great, the song is great. The movie will be most likely be good too. Daniel Craig is perfect for the 007 role. For the negatives about the song, you have to take the context with the movie. Fits perfectly with the Bond theme. And as for the cold war being over.....not on your life.
