Bill's Next Job: Supreme Court?

Posted Jan 4, 08 5:50 PM CST in Politics

(Newser) – She may not have gotten off to a great start in Iowa, but a Hillary Clinton victory in November could give the family access to the only branch of federal government it hasn't cracked yet, CNN's Bill Mears writes—the judicial branch. Indeed, Bill Clinton as Supreme Court justice has been "whispered in legal and political circles ever since Sen. Hillary Clinton became a viable candidate for the Democratic presidential nomination," Mears writes.

"You may recall recent trial balloons that Mr. Clinton was perhaps interested in becoming UN secretary-general," one analyst said. "If he is grasping for a similarly large stage to fill his ambitions and ego, what better place than the nation's highest court, where he could serve for life if he wanted?" Counters one attorney/blogger: "This particular idea has zero chance of coming true."
