As the Yankees were losing to the Detroit Tigers in the ALCS opener Saturday night, Alex Rodriguez had just one thing on his mind: procuring the phone number of one of the lovely ladies sitting behind the dugout. Witnesses tell the New York Post that A-Rod, after being pulled from the lineup for poor performance, started openly flirting with the two women, and had a ball boy toss a ball to them after writing a note on it asking for the digits.
"One of the girls wrote on the ball and threw it back at A-Rod, who gave her a big smile," an onlooker says. "They exchanged a few glances after that." Says another, "I was absolutely stunned that even A-Rod would not be focusing on such a critical game, supporting his teammates, and was instead more interested in adding another couple of phone numbers to what must be a very, very large collection." But when Derek Jeter broke his ankle, the flirtation apparently screeched to a halt. For those keeping track at home, yes, Rodriguez does have a girlfriend: wrestler Torri Wilson.
