(Newser) – Kim Jong Il's grandson has given a rare television interview in which he says that he's "always dreamed that one day I would go back and make things better and make it easier for the people" of North Korea. Kim Han Sol—nephew of current leader Kim Jong Un— spoke with UN Under-Secretary General Elisabeth Rehn for Finnish TV, speaking mostly about his life, but touching on the troubles in his home country, the BBC reports.

Kim has had little contact with the political side of his family—his father "was definitely not really interested in politics." Asked how he felt about the misery the dynasty has caused, he said, "I will just take opinions from both sides … and make my own decisions." Kim has lived mostly in Macau and China, where he's befriended a number of South Koreans. "Sometimes we share our stories from back home and we realize how similar we are," he says. "It's just, like, political issues that divide the nation."

This kid would probably be smart never to set foot on North Korea again. He's been exposed too much to the West and would probably be seen as a threat to the current political status quo there. This is epecially true after giving this interview and talking about improving things there.  If he returned, I bet we wouldn't hear from him again.
