Biden, Dodd Call It Quits After Iowa

(Newser) – Democratic candidates Chris Dodd and Joe Biden are packing in their presidential campaigns after poor showings in Iowa. Biden polled a distant fifth, behind Bill Richardson, and Dodd came in seventh. Voters' sixth choice was "uncommitted." For Dodd the defeat is especially stinging. The Connecticut senator relocated his family to Iowa and put his children in new schools, reports the Hartford Courant.

Biden, like Dodd a longtime veteran of the Senate, had hoped for a late surge in Iowa. Both senators tried to make the case that their long experience qualified them for the job. Biden will return to the Senate and intends to be the candidates' "worst nightmare" if they don't protect American troops, reports the Delaware News Journal.
