Either Argo triumphed at the weekend box office, or Hollywood's other offerings were just too weak to compete, the LA Times reports. Ben Affleck's rescue thriller snagged the top spot in its third week with $12.4 million—the year's second-lowest No.1—followed by The Possession ($9.3 million), the highly anticipated Cloud Atlas ($9.4 million), and Silent Hill: Revelation 3D. Nickelodeon's Fun Size ($4.1 million) and Gerard Butler's surfing pic Chasing Mavericks ($2.2 million) debuted somewhere off the cinematic radar. (More movies stories.)
