(AP) – The San Francisco Giants needed extra innings this time, but they beat the Detroit Tigers for the fourth straight game to sweep the World Series. Detroit made a game of it, and even led for the first time all series, but the Giants' Marco Scutaro hit a two-out single in the top of the 10th to knock in the winning run in the 4-3 victory. It's San Francisco's second championship in three years. Bleacher Report has more on the game and the series here.

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ. Shorten the season or baseball continues to die a slow death. The records are all screwed up from the steroid era and now the HGH error. So lets not worry about how it will affect the stats.

Detroit scored 6 runs if four games,,,, Obviously that doesn't cut it..... The Tigers are the AL Champs and that is commendable, but they sure looked lethargic for the WS..... Fielder was a huge bust........1 for 14, no RBIs and 4 k's...... It's odd as he had a very good regular season.....

They didn't actually need extra innings, they just felt bad for the Tigers and let them play longer.
