A man who suffered leg and wrist injuries after being hit by a police car while crossing a street in New York City was astounded to receive a bill for $1,028 to cover the cost of repairs to the car. Jesse Zorski, a 25-year-old who uses a hearing aid, says he was crossing on a green light, but NYPD says the patrol car had the right of way, the New York Daily News reports. Zorski believes the bill was retribution for his lawsuit seeking to recover $1,200 in medical expenses. An NYPD spokesman now says the bill was sent in error and the department is "examining safeguards to make sure similar letters are not sent in the future." (More New York City stories.)
