(Newser) – A Polish man has been arrested for allegedly plotting to detonate a four-ton bomb in front of the country's parliament amid a budgetary debate. The BBC reports that the academic researcher, 45, has confessed to planning the assassination of the president and other leaders. Prosecutors called the unnamed man's motives "nationalistic, xenophobic, and anti-Semitic." Videos show him testing explosives in his home, officials say. He's also accused of trying to recruit allies; two others have been arrested for possession of illegal firearms.

An interesting detail, per the AP: The country's PM says the suspect and his plot were discovered as investigators looked into Polish links to Norwegian mass murderer Anders Behring Breivik. Polish security officials have said that Breivik bought small amounts of material for his bomb-making in Poland.

I can not understand how a country like Poland that suffered so much under nazi Germany could take it cues from fascists and neo-nazis.

Hmunster, you sound like an anti-Polish Bigot. The old anti-Polish jokes you heard originated from Nazi propaganda and were introduced into America by hypocritical anti-Polish Bigots in Hollywood and NBC-TV who said they hated the Nazi Germans....while deep down LOVING the Nazi subhuman intelligence jokes about Polish people that Nazis told Polish people while they were murdering them in the Nazi death camps. The origin of Nazi subhuman intelligence jokes about Polish people in the US....is Hollywood/NBC-TV in the 1960's
