Police investigate the attacks at Casper College on Friday morning in Casper, Wyo.   (Alan Rogers)

(Newser) – A man wielding a sharp-edged weapon killed one person in a Casper neighborhood today before killing a male teacher and himself in a community college classroom, causing a campus-wide lockdown as authorities tried to piece together what happened. Police found the suspect and one of the victims dead at a science building on the Casper College campus. The other victim was found about two miles away.

The attacker wasn't believed to be a Casper College student, and it appeared he knew the victims, said Casper Police Chief Chris Walsh. He didn't identify the suspect or victims. The attack at the two-year community college, about 250 miles northwest of Denver, occurred just before 9am.

If this happened in any other place, it'd be a huge story. But multiple killings don't really make the grade anymore, unless there are guns involved. Even then, the story's bigger based on the age, gender, race, number and/or aesthetics of the people affected.

All the comments from stupid Americans, unfeeling and numbed into "nothing means nothing" by the murderous collapse of their precious military empire and all that it entitled them to believe until now. http://www.JustBelieve2012.com

This story is not headline news on my local news page, only because a gun was not used. Its a violent world, always has been....yes even long before guns came along. Before "modern-times" most common people had little to no defense against violence, unless you were strong and had some fighting or hunting skills you had no chance. Guns leveled the playing field considerably, like it or not. Just be thankful you did not live in the violent middle or dark ages. If you honestly think humans are capable of living in total peace and that guns are the cause of our violent tendencies you have never read a history book or are just delusional. A lot of people have been lulled into thinking humans are emerging into a modern more peaceful species, that's only because of our all too easily taken for granted modern conveniences and your false sense of security all of which can disappear rather easily. All you can do is defend yourself to the best of your abilities with the most effective tools, but of course there are no guarantees and nobody lives (here) forever, so hopefully the afterlife (if there is one) is a better and more peaceful place. HOLY crap.....beer makes me philosophical....*burp*.
