Ohio State coach Jim Tressel must have felt a sense of deja vu last night: his team played poorly and lost to a Southeastern Conference team in the BCS title game—just as it did in January 2007. This year's opponent, LSU, beat the Buckeyes, 38-24, backed by four TD passes by fifth-year quarterback Matt Flynn, writes the Columbus Dispatch.

The Tigers were clearly the faster, stronger team as they forced Ohio State into three turnovers in winning their second championship in five years. LSU fans serenaded Ohio State with chants of "SEC, SEC" in the waning moments and an elated All-American Glenn Dorsey proclaimed, "My team is the No. 1 team in the land!" Louisiana State finished 12-2. (More NCAA football stories.)
