The US National Transportation Safety Board is confirming that Mexican singer Jenni Rivera was indeed killed, along with six other people, in the Learjet crash early yesterday in Monterrey's mountains. "It was Jenni's plane that crashed and that everyone on board died," her father, Pedro Rivera, told dozens of reporters gathered in front of his Los Angeles-area home. "I believe my daughter's body is unrecognizable."

It is the first official confirmation of Rivera's death, although she has been widely presumed dead since the wreckage of her plane was found yesterday. The NTSB is sending a team to assist Mexican authorities with the investigation. An NTSB spokesman says Mexican aviation authorities had confirmed Rivera's death to the NTSB.
