(Newser) – Many Netflix customers hoping to unwind on Christmas by streaming a movie might have to go back to cable and watch that endless loop of A Christmas Story. The company's streaming service went down last night "across the Americas," a spokesman tells the Wall Street Journal. It blames web service provider Amazon for the glitch, and there's no word on when it will be fixed. Amazon's AWS unit runs servers for several big-name companies, and problems earlier this year affected Instagram and Pinterest.

Actually, it was pretty annoying because Roku/Netflix kept insisting that I wasn't connected to the internet, like the problem was on MY end. But if you weren't affected, whoop-di-do for you.
