(Newser) – Human remains have been found in the house that William Spengler burned down yesterday, in the ruse he used to fatally lure firefighters to the scene. Police in the Western New York town of Webster announced the grisly find this afternoon, reports the Democrat and Chronicle, and believe it is the body of Spengler's 67-year-old sister, Cheryl Spengler, who shared the house with him and has been missing since yesterday. A medical examiner will need to make a positive identification. Police said William Spengler was "equipped to go to war," adds the AP.

You know how Dr. Phil always says "How's that workin' for ya?" Well, until we learn that putting mentally ill killers in prison only makes them worse, things like this will continue to happen. The first clue is that he killed his grandmother with a hammer. In my uneducated opinion that qualifies as mentally ill. The alternative, since we can't afford long-term treatment, which probably won't work anyway, is to lock them up for the rest of their lives. ...until some lawyer gets them out since their civil rights are being violated.

This was a very sick man. They will always find ways to purchase guns illegally. You can make the gun laws as stiff as you want but criminal and insane people will get them on the black market.

People like this make me glad I'm armed and trained to defend myself and those I care about.
