(Newser) – Author Dennis Lehane is offering an unusual reward for the person who finds his family's beloved missing beagle: He'll name a character in his next book after whoever finds Tessa, who disappeared from the family's home in Brookline, Mass., this week. He says on his Facebook page that Tessa jumped a fence. She was not wearing her tags at the time, though she has been microchipped. Lehane wrote Mystic River, Gone Baby Gone, and Shutter Island, among others.

I hope & pray that you will be reunited with your Dog, the micri-chip works & I recommend it for all pets if you truly love them. My minature poodle got out somehow, & I searched high & low for day's & went to the animal rescue to see if she was there, (what a sad place, all the dogs & cats looked sad , with a "take me home look") but two weeks later a lady came to our door with Goldie. She found Goldie in her yard (three miles from our house) & fell in love with her so she took her to the vet for a health check-up, most vet's do an automatic screaning for a "chip" in cases such as this, and that is why Goldie is by my side as I type this response.

If the dog has a microchip what is the problem? I do not get the artical. Unless the chip was on the collar & not inmplaned in the dog.
