(Newser) – The Los Angeles Clippers shot their way into the record books last night with a 107-96 victory over the Utah Jazz, giving them 17 wins in a row and an undefeated December, making them only the third NBA team to record a perfect calendar month, the AP reports. Only the 1995-'96 San Antonio Spurs and the 1971-'72 Los Angeles Lakers have achieved the same feat. The Clippers' winning streak is now the NBA's longest since the Boston Celtics won 19 in a row four years ago.

According to Wikipedia since 1998 the Clippers have had 5 periods of 30 or more days with losses (max period of approx 45 season days) including two months with no wins; Nov of '94 and Jun of '89. Their longest streak of losses is 20 and ranks 7th for length of streak. Cavaliers have the longest at 26. Records I found go back to the 71 season when the Lakers won their 33 in a row. The Bulls have the longest home streak at 44. Guess their fans got their moneys worth.

Interesting that they are only the 3rd team to have a completely perfect calender month. I would like to know how many winless months the Clippers have had in their franchise history....I'm sure more than a couple, but its nice to see a perennial doormat finally turning it around.
