Richardson Drops Out of Race

(Newser) – Bill Richardson is ending his bid for the presidency following lackluster showings in New Hampshire and Iowa, the AP reports. The New Mexico governor finished fourth in both races, unable to compete with the star power of his top three Democratic rivals. Richardson will make the official announcement tomorrow, says AP, quoting anonymous advisers.

Richardson, 60, got about 5% of the vote in Tuesday's primary in New Hampshire and about 2% in Iowa. He managed to hang around longer than any of the other Democratic also-rans but could not mount a serious challenge to Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, or John Edwards, despite a resume that includes not only his governorship but a stint as UN ambassador.

    Obama Wins 7 Delegates in Wyo. Barack Obama easily won the Wyoming caucuses today and added 7 delegates to his tally, Chris Cillizza reports in his Washington Post blog. Obama won 61% of the vote and Hillary Clinton won 38%, scoring 5 delegates.
