If you're thinking of retiring abroad, InternationalLiving.com has the place for you: Ecuador. The site has ranked the country No. 1 for US and Canadian retirees for the fifth year in a row, Reuters reports. That's thanks to "a welcoming culture, the great weather, the affordability, and its proximity to the United States," says a site editor. Living expenses in the country are between $900 and $1,400 a month.
In Ecuador, a beer costs 85 cents, while a doctor's appointment is $25. What's more, seniors get half-price entertainment and transportation. The site analyzed the most popular countries for retirees from the US and Canada. Panama was second on the 22-country list, which also factored in infrastructure for retirees and ease of integration. Malaysia, Mexico, and Costa Rica also made the top five. Click through for more from the list.
