If you're thinking of retiring abroad, InternationalLiving.com has the place for you: Ecuador. The site has ranked the country No. 1 for US and Canadian retirees for the fifth year in a row, Reuters reports. That's thanks to "a welcoming culture, the great weather, the affordability, and its proximity to the United States," says a site editor. Living expenses in the country are between $900 and $1,400 a month.

In Ecuador, a beer costs 85 cents, while a doctor's appointment is $25. What's more, seniors get half-price entertainment and transportation. The site analyzed the most popular countries for retirees from the US and Canada. Panama was second on the 22-country list, which also factored in infrastructure for retirees and ease of integration. Malaysia, Mexico, and Costa Rica also made the top five. Click through for more from the list. (More Ecuador stories.)
