(Newser) – Today's jobs numbers fell just slightly below the expectations of economists: 155,000 jobs were added last month, when 160,000 had been expected, the Wall Street Journal reports. The unemployment rate held steady at 7.8%; last month's initial rate of 7.7% was revised upward. Some observations from the AP:

  • Though jobs numbers were below expectations, the "steady gain" proves that hiring continued even during the fiscal cliff negotiations in DC. But the average number of jobs added monthly in 2012—153,000—was the same as that in 2011.
  • Construction and manufacturing added 30,000 jobs, the most in 15 months, reflecting the rebuilding efforts after superstorm Sandy.
"Hiring should be stronger this far into a recovery," writes Kathleen Madigan in the Journal.

Hahahah this is still bad news unemployment goes up again at 7.8% bad sign millions still can't find work. These job figures our a joke! Its funny how they don't count the ones with part timers and ones who gave up. I dont believe this because Christmas shopping didn't make a good sales. Wait until Jan figures it will show unemployment go back up too 3 or 4 percent because many temp workers for holidays were let go. It will go back too 8.1% besides these jobs are probably min wage jobs.

How many jobs were created under GWB during his 8 years as POTUS? Anybody, anybody? Then tell me how many of those jobs were Govt jobs. How many jobs have been created under Obama during his 4 years as POTUS? Anybody, anybody? Then tell me how many Govt jobs were cut while Obama has been in office. Thanks in advance

Kids were playing store this Christmas with cousins and fake money. Having a great time till big gov't (me) came and demanded 50% in federal income taxes, State tax, Health Insurance for All, OSHA rules and regs and some big fines as they weren't wearing helmets, Social Security, Disability, Unemployment taxes (which I increased by the minute), property tax for their shitty school that teaches them nothing about real life problems and situations. They realized they needed to fire a few employees (thank goodness they weren't union), or raise their price for the candy and toys they were selling, stop paying their suppliers, oh, and they had a business loan and a mortgage and electricity bills to pay, which they delayed paying, but that got them into more trouble as the lights went out in the basement. They gave up and went out to play. They couldn't make enough play money to keep up.
