Get Ready for Another Black President in 2016

Ben Smith thinks that the Democrats, at least, are sure to nominate a black person

(Newser) – Historically speaking, the next president will probably be the same race as the current one; after all, it's happened 42 of the last 43 times. That's a joke, of course, but Ben Smith at BuzzFeed thinks there's actually a pretty good chance the next president will be black. Certainly in a Democratic primary, assuming there's no "true white liberal champion, a la Howard Dean," a black candidate would be most likely to unite the party's core demographics: well-educated voters and voters of color.

What's more, two of the Democrats' best candidates—Cory Booker and Deval Patrick—are black, and both are Obama allies, a potential advantage. Pundits like to pretend things that just happened won't necessarily happen again, but "in fact, politics is the sport of repetition and of copycats." Republicans, meanwhile, lack an obvious black candidate, assuming Condoleezza Rice is out. "But the Romney-Ryan debacle did probably guarantee one thing: That the Republican Party will never again present a ticket with two white men on it," Smith writes. Click for his full column.

Who is Ben Smith.  With what political authority can he bring in the idea that just because we have a wonderful President who happens to be just as White as he is Black that we are getting an African American candidate in 2016? I can say without any reservation that Hillary Clinton (if healthy and will run) will be our President in 2016. You watch her, now that she leaves the Secretary of State job and is not having to travel hotel to hotel... she is going to become physically fit and become stunning.  No one is more qualified to be President than her. She will be calling foreign heads of state by first name. Next.....

I don't think it matters. Mediocrity comes in all colors. We have a cross section of politicians that graduated from liberal Ivy league schools from 1975 - 1980. They did nothing as young politicians to make changes, they towed the line so they could get voted up the ladder. Then PR firms package up pair of candidates & feed them to us. We have a Gov't of our peers.
